Apple iPhone Weakness to be Resolved


At the Black Hat security conference in Las Vegas a security researcher demonstrated Thursday the vulnerability of the iPhone, reported AppleInsider.

Charlie Miller, co-author of The Mac Hacker’s Handbook, revealed how hackers could gain complete control of a person’s iPhone. The weakness allows hackers to access the iPhone camera, dialer, messaging, Safari and more personal data among other things, reported PC World.

BBC News reported that the hack, a modified SMS message, could also result in iPhones (and phones using Windows Mobile and Google Android operating systems) being disconnected from their networks.

An O2, a UK network operating company, spokesperson said, “We will be communicating to customers both through the website and proactively,” the spokesperson added…. We always recommend our customers update their iPhone with the latest software and this is no different.”

The spokesperson added that the patch would be available Saturday via iTunes.

PC World also reported that those at the Black Hat conference expect hackers will only need two weeks before they have developed a process to hack into vulnerable phones.
