I believe it was in June of this year (2011) when I went to Southpark Smiles, which was just a few blocks (maybe a couple of miles) from our home in south Austin. It was the best experience I had at a dentist‘s office. There was little fuss and none of that horrible lecturing. Just plain and simple business. Exactly, I pay for a service, you provide. I did not pay for a lecture on dental hygiene. That was taught to me in elementary school.

Generally, I become quite dissatisfied when I hear Christmas music playing toward the end of October and begin seeing the Halloween decor being repacked by the local retailers and replaced by Christmas decorations. Personally, I feel that we don’t pay November enough attention. Partially because it is my birth month, but also because of Veteran’s Day and Thanksgiving. This year though, something is different. I’m not nearly as dissatisfied.

The “Occupy” movement has been going on for quite sometime now. Though really, it only began about a month and a half ago. It seems like it has been going on much longer. I’m not sure how I feel about it. I’m glad to see, for the most part, public officials appear to be allowing the protesters to stand their ground and practice their first amendment right(s). I’m glad that so many have the drive to continue the protests and apparently have the ability to continue to go along with it for so long. The aim? Many say it is a push for social and economic equality, citing a Robin Hood tax. A quick browse of the web will show that many are comparing it to the protests of 1968.

Sometimes we’re forced to create pros and cons lists, forced to weigh the positives and negatives, or positives and deltas, the pluses and minuses. Even when we don’t like either option. So, here’s to you Austin. Let’s see how you measure up.
I will adjust the list as time goes on.

“[Andrew Johnson] was a Southerner generally who proclaimed that his native state of Tennessee was ‘a country for white men’” (Ambrose 61).
On Monday, May 23, 2011, I received a return call from TVA Employees Credit Union. The Human Resources employee asked if I would be able to make it in for an interview at 11:30 AM EST on the coming Wednesday. This threw the next few days into a fast-paced rush to the end of the week and a lot of sleepless nights and days.

Emma had been wanting to get her nose pierced for some time and had planned to have it done during the week. Due to the call from the possible employer, Emma wanted us to get this done on Monday. We did this and returned home to figure out how to get me to and from Knoxville, Tennessee.
Emma and I tried to figure out how I was to make it to Tennessee in time for the interview and be able to return home without missing too much work. The best option was to fly. Found a pretty decent ticket on Expedia, but had to extend the stay a few hours longer than I had planned to get a cheaper returning ticket. We booked the flight, motel, and rental car.
